Austin, Texas

We decided to drive back north to Austin for some sightseeing and BBQ. Austin is only 60 miles north of San Antonio so it wasn't far. In the summer, bats fly from under the Congress Street Bridge and we were too early to see them. We missed them last year at Carlsbad Caverns, too. The capitol building is very similar to the Sacramento capitol building. We had a very relaxing day for a change.

San Antonio--Monday

We decided to spend an extra day in San Antonio and did some sightseeing with cousin Charles and Sue. It was an excellent decision--we had a very nice day.

San Antonio

Today, we visited Gary's daughter, Donna and her kids, Matthew, James and Carissa. We had lunch at Chuck E. Cheese which was my first visit and it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. The kids had a great time which was the point. It was cooler today--yesterday it was 85 and we just aren't ready for the heat.

Today, we visited with Gary's Aunt Katherine, cousin Charles and his friend, Sue. He hadn't seen his aunt in over 45 years and we had a very nice visit with them.

On The Way to Dallas

We left on Sunday and it rained and/or snowed all day. We were going to travel through Flagstaff but when we heard that 2-4 inches of snow was expected, we decided to drive to Phoenix. It added about 150 miles to our trip but it was worth it. We also were able to see the London Bridge when we passed through Lake Havasu which was pretty cool. We will be in Dallas tomorrow. It's been too much driving each day--we will be glad to slow down.
