Toronto

We took a tour of Toronto and all the pictures we took were out of the window of the bus. We stayed way too far out of town and it cut down on the time we had to spend in the city. It was interesting but not our favorite place--very crowded. We even parked out of town and took the subway and the traffic was horrible. Canada was nice to visit but rather expensive. Diesel fuel was $5.13/gallon in Montreal and regular unleaded cost more. A Snickers bar was $1.65. The most unfortunate part of the trip was that we left too early to see eastern Canada and the parts we did visit were rainy and muddy.

Montreal Canada

We had a very nice day in Montreal. We got into Montreal yesterday and took the Metro into town to see how it all worked. We had some trouble with French but we met a lot of helpful people so it was a breeze today. We took a bus tour, walked to the Notre Dame Basilica, and had dinner at a nice little restaurant that played jazzy 40's music. Notre Dame was breathtakingly beautiful but it was dark and our pictures didn't do it justice. We had a little rain but we were very lucky and it didn't impact our touring.

Burlington, Vermont--Happy Easter

We had a wonderful Vermont day. We went to mass, walked around downtown Burlington and on the shore of Lake Champlain, toured Ben & Jerry's, and had a late lunch at Outback. It was sunny and warm and everyone here is in a great mood since it snowed yesterday.

Cooperstown, New York

We had to adjust our travel plans and we ended up in Cooperstown, the home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. I've wanted to visit here since I was a teenager so it's a bit of a dream come true. For me--not Gary. We had planned to travel to Halifax and Quebec but we found that all of the RV parks aren't open--most open Memorial Day and some open May 15. We didn't expect this problem--we were lucky to find a park open in Maine. Last night it was 15 degrees here so it's not the ideal time of year to visit this part of the country.

Bar Harbor, Maine--Acadia National Park

Another beautiful day in Maine. We drove through Acadia National Park and had lobster for dinner in Bar Harbor. It's great to be here without all the tourists.

Freeport, Maine

On our way to Bangor today, we stopped at the L.L. Bean store and Gary bought some Bean boots and of course, I picked up a couple things, too. We had lobster rolls at a little place off the main street and then Ben and Jerry's ice cream--it was a nice Maine day.

Salisbury Beach, Massachusetts

We only drove about 90 minutes today to a new location--we just relaxed and drove to the beach. Unfortunately, poor Bean got caught by a big wave but I didn't get a picture of it hitting him--I was more worried about him getting out. He was not happy but he's fine--he just hates getting wet.

Newport Rhode Island

Yesterday, we drove to Newport to see the mansions. We toured two of them--the Breakers and Rosecliff and they were amazing. It was so cold--43 degrees with 30+ mph winds.

Boston

Today, we drove into Boston and took a bus tour to take in the sights--the Old North Church, the capitol, Paul Revere's house, and more. We had a nice lunch at Legal Seafood and walked around some on our own. It was a beautiful but chilly day and we really enjoyed ourselves.

New York--One More Picture

Years ago, we had my dad's parents' names (Maharidge) added to the wall at Ellis Island. It was a Christmas present to my dad and we had it added with him as the donor. This is the first time I've actually seen it in person.
