Hawthorne, NV

We had planned on driving further today but all trucks and RV's were being stopped due to high winds. We're just glad there was a nice RV park right here. We also have heard that there is snow in the Sierra. As my brother said, at least tornadoes don't usually occur in Nevada. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better--we'd like to get home.

Las Vegas

Well, we are such dorks--we forgot to take the camera on our trip into Vegas. We both left our cell phones in the trailer because we didn't want to be bothered so we couldn't even take bad pictures. We ate at a WONDERFUL buffet at Wynn's Hotel Casino, drove down the strip and did some shopping at the Vanity Fair outlet. We stopped at the "Pawn Stars" pawn shop (History Channel) but they were closed for filming. We tried to peek in the door but we couldn't see any of the guys. Still, we had a great time ande we've had our fill of Las Vegas.

Bryce Canyon, Utah

Today, we hiked into Bryce Canyon and we have so many wonderful pictures, it's hard to choose which ones to post. And we had beautiful weather--now that our trip is almost over.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Today, we arrived at Bryce Canyon and it is so beautiful. I'm glad we decided to stop here.

Arches National Park -- Friday

We spent Friday in the park and we didn't have the best weather. It rained several times but we were able to see everything and do all the hiking we wanted to do. What a wonderful place.

Moab, UT -- Thursday

We arrived in Moab on Thursday and took a short drive into Arches National Park. It is so beautiful--I think it's my favorite park. That's Gary in the opening of the arch on the right.

Glenwood Springs, CO--Wednesday

We left Cheyenne and drove south to Denver, then accross I-70 through Vail and stayed just north of Aspen. It was absolutely beautiful--we're going to have to go back when we have more time. Just not when it's snowing.

Cheyenne, Wyoming

Today, we stopped in Cheyenne and drove around town. No problems parking--no cost for street parking and it was plentiful. We saw the capitol (and we didn't have to pass through metal detectors) and they have all these painted boots around town.

Rapid City, SD Part II

Since we were still here, we decided to go back to Mt. Rushmore and it was much more enjoyable without the wind and snow. We even saw some mountain goats in the wild.

Rapid City, SD

Last night, we decided to stay an extra day here and we're glad we did. It was 30 degrees warmer with light winds and SUN. We drove through Bear Country USA and we had mixed emotions about it. It's a drive-thru zoo but we felt a little sorry for the animals. I'm sure they serve some good purposes and I have to say, the baby bears were adorable.

Custer State Park

This afternoon, we drove through Custer State Park which was very interesting. We saw deer and buffalo, drove through narrow tunnels and had many beautiful views.

Mt. Rushmore

This morning, we drove to Mt. Rushmore since we've heard the light is better in the morning. Since is snowed off and on while we were there, I suppose that didn't matter. It was so cold that we didn't spend much time there.
