Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

We actually had some nice weather today. We went to see the old locks between Lakes Superior and Huron and walked along the waterfront.

Parry Sound, Ontario Day 2

We drove around Parry Sound a little more today and we found one of the places my parents brought us for fishing back when I was in high school.

We also let Tess do a little smoozing with a moose and some swimming.

Parry Sound, Ontario

Parry Sound is on Georgian Bay and my parents used to bring us here to fish when we were kids.

Gary climbed to the top of the lookout tower and took some pictures. I didn't make it that far.

Algonquin Provincial Park

We've been driving for several days and we haven't had wi-fi so there haven't been any pictures to post. This morning, we finally saw some moose. We've been seeing warnings since Maine and these were the first sightings we've had. And we had the first sunny day in over a week. Hurray!

Basilique Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre

Near the falls, was this church which was absolutely incredible. The pictures don't do it justice. It rivals any big church in Europe.
Outside, they had life size stations of the cross. It was all amazing.

Montmorency Falls-Quebec

These falls are about 28 km outside of Quebec. I'm turning metric. It has been raining and raining and raining some more. We had some breaks yesterday but it rained all last night and all day today. We have got to find some better weather.

The falls are 1.5 times higher than Niagra Falls but certainly not as wide.

Quebec City-Thursday

It took us 2 days to get here from Nova Scotia and we took a double decker bus tour of the city yesterday. The campground had a shuttle that took us right to the tour so we didn't have to drive. We had time to walk around after the tour and had a very pleasant day. The city is very old and beautiful. We were lucky with the rain--it only rained on us a few minutes when we were on the top of the bus and it rained while we had lunch.

Louisbourg, Nova Scotia

Fort
We drove to Louisbourg to see the largest recreated fort in North America and it wasn't open so we only saw it from a distance. It was so cold again--in the 30's with snow. We are leaving tomorrow and we need to get somewhere warmer. We knew it would be cold but this is ridiculous. Nova Scotia is beautiful and we're glad we drove here but I am ready to give up the winter coat and wear some summer clothes.

Also, I took this picture in the women's room at a local supermarket. I never saw a rocking chair in a restroom before.

Cabot Trail, Cape Breton-Saturday

Yesterday, we drove part of the Cabot Trail along the coast. It was very cold--in the 30's--and it rained and/or snowed most of the day.

On our way back, we took a different route and had to take a very short ferry ride across a river. It was pretty cool and saved us about 25 miles of driving time.

Cape Breton, Nova Scotia

Puffins
We went on a boat trip to "Bird Island" which is in the Atlantic. We saws seals. puffins and some other sea birds. It was a great trip and we had a nice, if cold, day.
